Huit chefs d’Etat africains ont effectué le déplacement de Libreville pour assister aux funérailles d’Edith Lucie Bongo Ondimba, épouse du président gabonais, Omar Bongo Ondimba, décédée samedi dernier au Maroc.

Il s’agit des présidents Idriss Deby Itno (Tchad), Teodoro Obiang Nguema (Guinée-Equatoriale), François Bozizé (Centrafrique), Fradique de Menezes (Sao Tomé et Principe), Amadou Toumani Touré (Mali), Thomas Yayi Boni (Bénin), Faure Gnassingbé (Togo) et Laurent Ggagbo (Côte d’Ivoire).

Les huit chefs d’Etat ont déposé chacun une gerbe de fleurs et se sont inclinés devant la dépouille installée sous une chapelle ardente montée pour les funérailles qui se déroulent au palais de la présidence de la République gabonaise, sur le boulevard du front de mer à Libreville.

La France a dépêché le secrétaire général de l’Elysée, Claude Guéant, Le secrétaire d’Etat à la Coopération, Alain Joyandet et la ministre de l’Intérieur, Michelle Alliot Marie.

Plusieurs autres pays sont représentés à un niveau ministériel, notamment le Sénégal et la Guinée-Conakry qui ont délégué leurs Premiers ministres, Cheikh Hadjibou Soumaré et Kabiné Komara.

La vie s’est arrêtée à Libreville et dans le Gabon tout entier depuis le rapatriement mercredi de la dépouille de Edith Lucie Bongo Ondimba, décédée samedi dernier à Rabat, au Maroc, des suites d’une longue et pénible maladie.

Les deux jours consacrés aux obsèques ont été décrétés chômés sur toute l’étendue du territoire national. Tous les marchés sont fermés dans la capitale gabonaise où le seul centre névralgique reste le palais présidentiel. Un dernier hommage y sera rendu tout au long de la journée de jeudi à la défunte première Dame.

La dépouille de Edith Lucie Bongo Ondimba, fille du président congolais Denis Sassou Nguesso, quittera Libreville vendredi à 10h00 (9h00 TU) pour Brazzaville.

L’inhumation est prévue à Edu, village natal de son père, dans le nord de la République du Congo. - APA
